9 Months

Last week, Jack turned 9 months old!

When I say he doesn't sit still...I mean it.  Seriously.  He moves all the time.  My mom holding him like this was the only way I could get a picture of him.  Thank goodness for digital cameras.  I bet I deleted 20 pictures and this was the best I could get!  He goes to the doctor next week for his checkup, but I am guessing he weighs 21 pounds.  He is about to outgrow his size 3 diaper, has two bottom teeth and is almost walking.  He can stand for a long time with no assistance.  Jack's two upper teeth are starting to come in as well.  I can only imagine that the next few weeks are going to be lots of fun!  I still declare he is the happiest baby ever.  I just love that little man!

  1. I'm from Chattanooga, TN and have been following your blog for sometime now! I am a student at UT-Knoxville and one of my sweet friends, Hogan McGowan, urged me to pray for your beautiful daughter, Lucy! All 3 of your children are so precious and full of light that I can't focus on studying and homework because I wait anxiously for your next post!

I hate comparing, because Lucy's cancer and medicinal treatment will be different, but my mother has Multiple Myeloma (a blood cancer). Last summer she was treated at Vanderbilt and went through the stem cell process! Cream corn...yep!! So odd! Anyhow, wanted to let you know that the roughest round of chemo they gave Lucy for her size and age was what they did with my mom. It caused swallowing to be extremely painful and acid reflux from hell basically. But I will say, Coke helped with burn, fruit flavored popsicles were a favorite as well! That was the scariest part...trying to add on the calories when they lose their appetite! I am praying for you specifically. I hope you have faith in your ability as a Mom! There is no other Mom that could have been assigned to Ella, Lucy, or Jack. Your role is specific, planned, and God-timed. Though it is probably the thing I struggle with most...God has the reigns and he knows every little cell in our bodies. The stem cell is truly a miraculous cell! Praying for you.

"You're blessed when you're at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule." Matt. 5:3

  3. Kate~I have been following your blog for sometime now. I lived in Collierville, right outside Memphis for nearly 30 years..until we were transferred to Kansas City 2 years ago. St. Jude is so dear to my heart and I have been praying for all of the sweet angels there. I have a 16 month old little boy and we pray each night for your precious Lucy. I would love to send Lucy a care package of her favorite things, but I did not know of things she is permitted to have. So, if you could think of anything that would bring a smile to her, I would love to do that for her. My email is alfrazier3314@att.net Sincerely, Laura Frazier Shawnee, KS

  4. So cute.... My youngest is just growing out of a size 3 too well maybe not... they still fit her quite well. She turned 2 in May. She has a blood disorder and was thought to have cancer at one time. She has not yet received a diagnosis and has about 6 different doctors trying to find out what is wrong. She has even had exploratory scopes without any answers...... She is the reason your story touches me so much. I hope and pray that I never have to travel the road you are on now, but if I do, I hope that we have the strength and faith that you do <3

  5. I know it would be easier to be at home and have your family all together and not have to deal with this horrible cancer. We all pray for that to come for you all...But I will say, you are a deep pool of inspiration. You have an amazing gift in your faith. I can not imagine the countless people that read your blog, and are drawn to prayer that day for Lucy, who might have otherwise not prayed at all. Your words are bringing people closer to God. You are honest and bold. You will never know how far reaching that is.

  6. Jack is such a handsome little guy, (well, really not that little), love his chubby legs. He has got a smile, like Lucy's, that can bring a ray of sunshine, on the darkest of days! Prayers continue for your beautiful family, and hopes that Lucy does well with her treatments.
All your feelings and emotions, show what a wonderful Mom you are, and that you are human! I was once told, during a "pity time", that your feelings belong to you, and you are allowed to use them anyway you choose. Write, vent, and never be afraid to look for comfort from others. God Bless you, and thank you for being honest enough to share your thoughts and feelings with us. Never think you are feeling something wrong. God knows and understands exactly what you truly mean, and has given you permission, to express yourself. Keep the faith Kate, you are a beautiful lady, inside and out!

    Sending Hugs!
    A Mom-Mom in NJ
