Meet the Doctors

Want to meet two of Lucy's doctors?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpwPvBG18XE   see Dr. Boop here.  One of the world's foremost experts in neurology.  Master surgeon and a true hero in our book!  He's the one who performed the 9 hour surgery to remove the tumors in Lucy's brain and spine.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WumInD-BLLM&feature=relmfu  see Dr. Klimo here.  He's the surgeon who put in Lucy's shunt.  The dreaded, but necessary, surgery that allowed Lucy to start on the road to recovery.

I don't think I ever shared some of our favorite nurse/doctor pictures from St. Jude.  Here are some of our special friends:

Mrs. Penny, the Voice of St. Jude

Dr. T from Bone Marrow Transplant

Courtney, nurse from Patient Care

Rose, from BMT

Jordan--OT

Pam, Recovery nurse

Sarah, Jenn and Leigh from BMT

Ashley from Child Life

Candace from Triage

Dr. S from BMT

Erin from School

Janet from Triage

Katie from the Medicine Room

Lauren--PT

Janette from Social Work

Kristen from the Medicine Room

Margaret--Line Nurse

Nicole from BMT

Susan from BMT

Oh, how blessed we have been and continue to be by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and LeBonheur.  To have these world class hospitals in our back yard is almost too good to be true.  Thank you God for putting us in this place at this very time in our lives.  I will forever be grateful.

  1. Hi Kate, I have left you other comments before but tonight I want to tell you my story of Dr. Boop. At the age of 32 I was diagnosed with congenital hydrocephalus and ended up at Semmes Murphy where a doc was ready to shunt me that day. Somehow through a stroke of luck and prayer I got referred to Dr. Boop who usually sees peds. I met him and he reviewed my MRI. He said he could do an endoscopic procedure to help me instead of the shunt but that he had a close colleague in new York that had much more experience than he did and I should go to him for the surgery and then he would do my yearly follow up. That is what happened but it shows the type of humble yet incedible doc he is. We keep in touch even now when I live out of state. He is a rock star in my book and LeBonheur and St. Jude are so fortunate to have him, as is Lucy. Prayers for a happy and healthy year to you and your family.

  2. Oh Kate, I don't know if I've ever seen such a beautiful group of smiles. Every person just exudes love, care and kindness...and when you see THAT MUCH of someone's heart in a photo, we can only guess how wonderful they are in person. Give each of them an extra hug for their wonderful care of darling Lucy!

As sick as your precious Lucy was, she still had that sparkle of hope in her eyes. We are so thankful for her healing and the incredible people that God put in her path to take such extraordinary care of!
