13 Ounces

(keep reading for a fun offer at the bottom of the page)

What is the craziest thing you have ever gotten in the mail?  I'm not talking about in a package.  I'm talking about a thing in the mail.  Not following me?  Take a look at these two items that arrived recently for Lucy.

Both were delivered just like they are.  With a stamp and the address right on them.  Isn't that crazy?  Well, I was curious about how someone could actually do this and I stumbled across this blog.  She is a lady that chronicles the things that weigh less than 13 ounces she mails to people.  I wish I knew who originated this idea because I'd love to give them credit.  If you Google 13 ounces or less you will come up with some really cute ideas.  Isn't this so much fun?

If you have mailed anything interesting like this I'd love to know.

On a totally unrelated front, I am applying for 501(c)3 status for the Go Lucy Go Foundation.  I am so excited to be sharing this news!  This means that once we have our tax id number any contributions you guys make for holiday meals and other St. Jude/LeBonheur activities will be tax deductible.  This is a huge step for us as a family and as an organization.  I hope to get started on a website soon, but I'm already in over my head by just typing the word website!

Night time around our house has begun to take on a much desired, long anticipated routine.  Dinner, homework, bath, bed.  What a sweet respite from the past 19 months.  I am so grateful to have this mundane-ness in my life right now.  Here is a sneak peak into our night:

My sweet friend Jennisa from Once Upon a Blog is extending a special offer to you guys.  She is offering $10 off a custom package.  Her blogs rock and she is so wonderful to work with!  All you have to do is enter the code BACK2SCHOOL in the contact form! (I don't get any kick backs from this.)

  2. How wonderful you have a bit of a routine again. :) Looks so good!

That book Ella is reading, is it an A Beka book? My son is sitting beside me and he says he had a book like that one in his younger grades. I did the A Beka program with both my kids and totally loved it.

    Blessings,

  4. I just love little Lucy's haircut! About a week or so ago, my oldest granddaugter Mikaela - who is 9 - cut 13 inches off her hair for "Locks for love" - I was just so proud of her and she decided to do that all on her own.
Continuing to pray for your sweet family!

  5. It seems so nice to hear you say you have been able to have nightly routines. Ella looks like she is getting so big, what a beautiful girl, did she get her braces off?

  6. My sister-in-law mailed my niece's b-day party invites as a message in a corked plastic bottle - she rolled up the invite and included little beach-y trinkets in it. Funniest part was my daughter trying to get everything out of the neck of the bottle (the big end was taped and removable, as she later found out).

  8. My daughter-in-law bought the cutest little mailable frog at a little shop here for my grand daughter and her cousin to mail back and forth with little messages. I think it is the cutest idea!

  9. I love website design if you want any help please email me! I have been reading your blog for a few months now and look forward to your posts. It's nice to have other christian blogs that can be ready. My blog I just started is just that of living a Christian life and daily struggles. I can not even imagine your daily struggles but I know God is holding you through those hard days.

  11. I just wanted to comment that there seems to be something wrong with this blog entry, at least on my MacBook (maybe on a pc it's not a problem?) I can see the photo of the two sheep, but then as I scroll down everything disappears and I get a blank screen. I can see the photo at the very bottom of Lucy and her dad playing a computer game, and just above that I see half of Jack (in cute pjs, lol). But everything between that is blank. Very odd.

Anyway...continuing prayers for you all. So good to see a little bit of "normalcy" (or whatever is becoming your new "normal").

  12. I mailed my aunt a plastic pink pig a month after she lost my uncle to a long battle with colon cancer. She said it made her day to open her mailbox and see a bright pink pig staring out at her....still makes me happy that I could make her smile.

  16. OH I love sending fun things in the mail! I have a friend who works at a summer camp we have sent tons of fun things including a ball, frisbee, Ester eggs, flip-flops and so much more! But I do have to say my love for mail started with a family friend who sent us a coconut (no box just the coconut!) It was the coolest thing and it just made everyone’s day! :) Enjoy the fun mail and your evenings with the kids! :)

  17. My son and his penpal have been finding silly thing to mail to one another. Most recently we put a note and an address on a luggage tag and put it around a rubber duck's neck. 4 days and 900 miles later Mr. Duck arrived and brought a HUGE smile to the recipient's face!
