Joy

(the photo quality in the post is horrible, thanks to a small glitch in my phone)

Our hearts are full of thanksgiving as we celebrate the news of Lucy's scans last Friday.  While we still have to deal with the fluid sitting on the brain, we have been celebrating this weekend.  There's nothing like a country Christmas light extravaganza to put you in the holiday spirit!

After our Friday night lights celebration, Erik took the kids for a much anticipated shopping trip for yard decorations.  The Griswolds have just brought it to the neighborhood.  I apologize to all our neighbors, but nothing in the world could have traded the smiles and giggles we had once the reindeer went up.  I think I laughed for 10 minutes straight.  3 weeks worth of anxiety vanished with the help of some tacky yard art! (yes, it is 11 feet tall)

It was just that kind of weekend.  The kind that you never want to end.  The kind that doesn't come along often enough.  Tonight as I was rocking Jack to sleep, I found myself not being able to put him in his bed once he fell asleep.  I just needed to hold him a minute longer.  That minute turned into an awfully long time, but they were some of the most precious minutes in my day.

This morning in church was a pretty special time, too.

Merry CHRISTmas!  Oh, and P.S.  Someone lost her other tooth.  Cancer free and missing 2 teeth.  It doesn't get any better than this!

  6. I can't help but think of the words "Christmas Miracles" as I read your blog. I'm Jennifer...I live near Memphis, in Collierville, and have been reading for quite some time. A friend of mine ran in the St. Jude race Saturday, and she prayed for requests as she ran. I gave her Lucy's name...figured you wouldn't mind! Praise God for His many blessings on your beautiful family! I think of you all often and every time I think of you, I pray for you. God bless you and yours! Merry Christmas, my sister in Christ.

  14. Long ago, when Lucy was battling that awful infection and we all thought she might not make it, I showed my girls Lucy's picture. They had prayed for her before but since that night, they have prayed for her almost every night..."And please pray that Lucy feels better..." So, when I showed them the picture on Friday and told them the great news, they were so giddy with excitement. Please know that her story has impacted the faith of 2 little girls in Hendersonville and it is so awesome that y'all have shared it all with us..ups and downs...and always given God the glory! They know that God has performed an awesome miracle in her life and that He can do it for them too, if or when bad things happen. Thank you for letting God use you!!

  16. I cannot tell you how much joy it brings me to see the words "cancer free" in your post! I think back to the days when Lucy was so very sick with the brain infection and it seemed her battle was over. I think I emailed you and told you that I literally got in my car, left work and sat in some random parking lot sobbing and begging God to heal her. I feel like we all (all your readers, friends, family, etc) fought some terrible spiritual battle together and literally moved God's hand. I'm no preacher so my theology could be all wrong, but that's what it feels like to me. I am proud to be a warrior for Lucy. What an amazing gift she is to us all!

  22. I have never doubted for one minute that Lucy would beat cancer. When you posted that her cancer was back & that there was little hope I literally fell to my knees. I couldn't believe it. I knew it couldn't be true, but I was so confused. I have been through some heartbreaking things with one of my children the past few years & I didn't believe I could go another day with my heart breaking as it was, but then I saw the picture of beautiful Lucy & her "HOPE" banner & it gave me the boost I needed. I was losing my faith & yet I had faith that your little girl was going to be fine. I can't explain it, but you & your family have given me hope again & that is such a huge blessing. Thank you for bravely & honestly sharing your story & life & may God bless & keep you all safe always.
