An Orange a Day?

Ok, guys.  I have a really cool sweepstakes to share with you.  I am excited to do this and you are going to have 3 chances to win $100 CVS gift cards.  That's right, 3!  I was asked by Mucinex to share my thoughts on the cold and flu season that is currently upon us.  I guess that heard about how "healthy" our home is (I say in jest.)  Over the next few weeks, I will be sharing some tips on how to make the most of your child's not-feeling-so-well days.
Ella and Lucy preparing to play outside on a cold day
I think we would all agree that avoiding the flu is worth it at almost all costs.  My bottle of antibacterial cleaner goes every where with me these days.  I know my children are sick of me making them wash their hands, but bringing the flu into a home with an immune compromised child is just not an option.  I also make sure that I stay in constant contact with my children's teachers and friends' parents.  The best way to avoid the flu or a cold is to avoid the person carrying it.  For Lucy, that might mean missing a few days of school if someone is really sick in class.  Another thing that we try to do is make sure that everyone is eating fruits and vegetables and taking a multivitamin.  Erik and I are very lucky that we have 3 children who would each choose a mandarin orange over a cookie any day.

Cuties...breakfast of champions
But try as we may, sometimes a cold just gets the best of us.  For the children, I turn to Mucinex for relief.  I actually was encouraged by one of my best friends to try this one night.  I was fairly desperate to get Lucy some relief from a runny, yucky nose and a nasty cough.  I was a bit skeptical when she said this "changed their lives."  I have to tell you...she was right.  These are the two bottles that I keep on hand at all times.

Mucinex won't cure the flu, nor will it completely make a bad cold disappear.  What it will do, however, is provide relief from the cold symptoms that keep you feeling so bad.  The congestion, the cough, the yucky nose.  And do you know what that means?  A much happier child!  A stuffy nose is much easier to deal with when you have a smiling, happy child.

Here are some of the reasons I love Mucinex for my girls (please note, Mucinex is approved for children 4-12 years old)

  • Relieves Stuffy Nose
  • Controls Cough
  • Relieves chest congestion
  • Thins and loosens mucus
  • And, very important, it is alcohol free.
If you have seen Children's Mucinex on the shelves and have been wanting to give it a try, check out this coupon that's worth $2.00.  I sure thing you will be happy you did!
When your child has a bad cold, you both can feel miserable. Children's Mucinex is the #1 children's brand for relieving congestion* and provides fast acting relief from your child's worst cold symptoms. Try Children's Mucinex Multi-Symptom Cold if your child needs relief from stuffy nose and chest congestion. Always use Children's Mucinex Multi-Symptom Cold as directed. (*Based on IRI unit share data for the 52 weeks ending November 2012)
OK, it's your turn.  Comment below and answer the question  What activity makes your child smile when under the weather?”  When you comment you enter yourself  into the drawing for a $100 CVS card.  Good luck and may you be blessed with health and wellness!

  1. My favorite thing to do to make my kids smile is to "hurt" myself. They think it's hilarious to see Mommy fall, trip, drop something on herself. I wish I could figure out why it's so funny?!? But it works.
