Pumpkin Patch
This year at Lucy's school, they "made" a pumpkin patch. The kids didn't really realize that it was not an actual patch, but were thrilled none the less to run into the field and pick their favorite pumpkin. Jack and I were there with Lucy and she was so proud to show off her baby brother.

Baby Jack is 1 Month Old!
I can't believe that Jack is already one month old. I don't know if this has been the longest month of my life or the shortest. Part of my feels as if he has been here forever with us. The other part feels as if we just left the hospital yesterday.
It's been a tough first month for baby Jack. He has reflux and refuses to sleep anywhere except my chest or in one of our arms. I have officially moved to the couch for my nightly "slumber" and have made a pretty cozy area for myself. I have my cell phone, glasses, cup of water and a few US Weekly magazines for those long nightly feedings.
While I know "this too shall pass" I'm just praying I will survive the "this too" until that time comes. Even through this time, I can tell you that I love this baby more than words can describe. He is so precious and just fills me with happiness (except maybe when he's screaming between ten and midnight). I just love looking at his little round, butterball face. I think he might have even smiled with purpose this morning. I'm convincing myself he did because, well, I need it right now. Just a tiny acknowledgement that he knows me makes my sacrifice so worth it!

Fall Break Zoo Trip
One of our rare outings lately was a trip to the Zoo during Fall Break. Rebecca, Maddie and Mom tagged along and we had a great time. Erik even stopped in for a while after his meeting in the big city was over. I had to stop and feed Jack fairly often and walking up and down those "hills" wore me out, but we had a great time.

Jack's 2 Week Update
Erik and I took baby Jack to Dr. B today for his 2 week check-up. We both assumed that he had gained weight, since his cheeks had seemed to plump up a bit. We were shocked, however, to find out that he had gained almost a pound! He had come home from the hospital at 5 lbs 15 oz. Today he was 6 lbs 13 oz. We were so happy. Apparently breastfeeding is suiting Jack very well.
He had grown 1/2" and came in at the 50th percentile for weight and 75th percentile for height. She even told us that Jack could be close to 6 foot tall. Erik was so proud! He was starving the whole time he was being examined, so he fussed a lot. All-in-all, though, he did great and we had a wonderful first doctor visit.
