Playing Catch Up

I know we are in the mountains, but I can't post those pictures until I finish posting about the beach.  Blame it on OCD, but I just can't handle my book being out of order this year.  I've got some major catching up to do and so little time.  This post will mainly be pictures, but I took some great ones and want to remember our wonderful vacation. Installment 1:

During our family photo time, Jack decided he had other things he'd rather do:

And Ella.  Wow!  I think she gets more beautiful every day.  I am so proud of these pictures.

This was our view from the balcony.  I am not afraid of heights, but I am a self diagnosed sufferer of High Place Phenomenon.  It's crazy, I know, but it creates this amazing anxiety that takes over my body.  It's awful.  That means that I don't go out on the balcony for the first few days of any trip and I have to go inside when any of my children are out there.  Totally irrational, I know.  After the fear subsides in a day or two, I always enjoy reading a good book looking out over and listening to the ocean.  This particular day I was waiting on Jack to wake up from his nap and reading something very insightful like US Weekly or People I'm sure.

My absolute favorite pictures are below.  Every single day we were at the beach we saw rainbows.  This particular day we saw double rainbows.  We liked to think that God was sending us a sign that everything was going to be ok.  Our hearts and minds were heavy this vacation and each day when we saw the rainbows we seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.

More to come....

Love the rainbows. We have had a lot of double rainbows this summer in Middle Tennessee. I never realized it...........but look closely and you will see that the rainbows are mirror images (colors in opposite order). Never realized this...maybe you already did. But the second, fainter rainbow is, I believe, a reflection of the brighter one! Reflection, refraction..........all Greek to me since high school (which was a long time ago), but I thought you'd find that interesting if you didn't already know. Enjoy your family time. We pray for your family every day.

  2. Looks like a really fun place to be! Enjoy every minute of the mountains! I am the same way when it comes to scrapbooking. I have to start at the first and not skip around no matter how cute the pictures are!
    You family is so beautiful!!

  3. This is precious stuff! I also am totally sympathetic about the ODC Order of Things and the "Heighthrophobia," as I called it as a child. LOL Blessings, Kate!

  4. Beautiful pictures of your sweet children. :) I'm glad your vacation was good and relaxing.

    Blessings hon,

  5. 13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.

14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
    Genesis 9:13-14

After the cloud of worry that had been over you, God wanted to remind you that HE is still there and where God is there is always HOPE! Still praying for Lucy and your whole family. Love the beach pictures.

  6. Beautiful family & scenery,God Bless you & your family Kate.

  7. High place phenomenon refers to the urge to jump from high places for the hrill. Is that what you feel?

  8. Hi Kate!!!

Thanks so much for sharing!! I just LOVE the pictures of Jack. The one of him marching on beach just cracked me up!!! He is just so darn cute!! Would you tell us where you were staying? The pool & beach looked AMAZING!!! I know my kids would love some place like that. The pics of Ella and the one of girls are so special. I'm so happy you guys have a great time at the beach.

    Take Care,

  9. Kate, Thanks for sharing. I just love pictures and it looks beautiful there. Makes me want to go on vacation.

  10. Always looking for updates. So glad you all are able to enjoy the beauty of God's creation just for us. You are so right about Ella getting more beautiful each day. She is a smaller reflection of you, and her beauty within glows in her outer beauty. Jack appears to be all boy, and I'm sure you are drinking up each moment of him. Always praying for Lucy. I still believe God has special plans for her future and can't wait to see it all unfold.
Every day, many times during the day, asking God to keep his guiding hand on you and your family.
    Love you all.
