We made it

We made it to St. Jude. When Lucy crawled up in that familiar hospital bed she smiled from ear to ear. She
later painted a picture and wanted me to write "I love St. Jude" at the bottom. Bless her sweet heart.

We haven't heard from any doctors but really didn't expect to tonight. We should have a pretty good pow wow by tomorrow afternoon I suspect. I am all at once scared, thankful, restless, peaceful, sad and happy. Mainly, right now, I am utterly exhausted. So are my two traveling companions.

Nothing could have been sweeter than holding my babies tonight. All three of them. I've missed them so much.

  29. Oh Kate I am so happy you are back home and in the security of those that know Lucy! That is such a praise! God is so good and seeing those sweet smiles together again is sweet answer to prayers! Tomorrow will bring clarity to much concern and confusion I pray! Thank you for updating! Get a good night sleep sweet mommy. I know this may seem crazy to say but as u are reading this.... pick up a book, or anything really and hold it in ur hands so you are physically holding something, okay, now.... (go with on this) close your eyes and kneel down at the foot of the cross.... Then physically lay it down...... As silly as that may sound it was the one true way I could imagine and truely go thru the actual motions mentally and physically of laying down what only God has control over & trust Him with all my heart during a very scary time in my life. A dear friend and youth minister walked me thru those motions and for the first time u could do it! Your strength comes from the Lord! He is your safe place! In all of this craziness and uncertainty you can be certain of Him and lay down your fears. Sit at His feet precious and cry out to Jesus! He lives Lucy so much! Trust Him & rest. Thank you for taking time to keep us all posted! We all love your precious family so much and can't wait for the "pow wow" reports! ;) good night!

  51. Kate--continued prayers for you and your family for peace and for answers soon. I know how much you want to understand the reason for all of this struggle and turmoil your family is going through; finding a greater good for it all is the only way we can make sense of it. Although I fully believe there is a purpose to it all, sometimes the reason does not become clear until much much later. Perhaps in over analyzing it while still in the moment we make more stress for ourselves. When I find myself doing that in my own life I ask God to take away my worries and my analyzing because i can't handle it, but I know He can. By turning it over to Him the burden of having to figure it all out is lifted and I can be more present to deal with the matters at hand and live in the moment. I know how badly you want a reason for Lucy's suffering, and so do I. It's' torture not knowing. But I know God will give us the answers when the time is right.

I pray for comfort and divine guidance for your family all the time. (((HUGS)))))

  67. Hi Kate....
I have been a "lurker" for a really long time. I found out about you guys and Lucy because both of our blogs are on 'And then there were seven's blog as needing prayer! I have been praying for you guys almost everyday. I wanted to write to tell you that God is using you and Lucy as a daily encouragement to me. I have a daughter with a heart condition, a daughter with a blood disorder and a son who is in the process of being diagnosed with a retinal dystrophy and may lose his sight. There is so much I want to write about how God is using you and yet it is hard to put into words. Our journeys are different but I see you grappling, wrestling and being so real before God and everyone and it is such an encouragement to me. It is so hard to walk everyday in watching my kids struggle and so many try to encourage me by making light of things...seeing the beauty in Lucy and her courage mirrors so much of what I see in my kids and reading as you pour out your heart reminds me that what God wants from me is not to blindly walk but to pour out my heart, to grieve and be weak when I need to.
I guess I want to write to say that your journey has changed mine for the better, Lucy has helped me to trust in the strength deep inside of my kids and it has all helped me to feel like I am not so alone.
Please know that I am praying!
    Shannon
