Photo Backlog

I've said it so many times before but I am so very behind in posting pictures.  I hate the feeling of constantly lagging behind.  Not that I want anyone else to see them, but because I love to publish this blog every year as a journal.

I am also really behind on printing pictures.  Do you ever worry that this digital age we live in will one day leave a whole generation of children with no hard copies of their pictures? I love looking back at the thousands of pictures my mom and dad have of our family throughout the years.  The problem is I have pictures on my phone, pictures on my computer, my camera, my external hard drive.  How in the world do I start?  Not to mention the cost!  I'm thinking of coming up with a picture printing schedule where I would print a group of pictures once a month.  Have any of you done this?  Do you have a process?  Which photo printing service do you use?

Here are some of said photos...Hilton Head 2014:

  1. Hey! I got the snapfish app to deal with phone pics-the app is free, and you get 100 free prints per month for a year--so, the first of the month I upload 100 from my phone using the app then I can delete because I have the prints and they are saved on my snapfish if I want to order more. You can also still see the. From your phone through the app. My kids like to see pics on my phone all of the time. Just passing it along!

  2. I use Shutterfly, and they are great at emailing coupons for free prints, half off photo books, etc. I never print at full price. Good luck!

  3. http://groovebook.com/ - this is a company that I am thinking of trying. They were on shark tank but have heard them mentioned many more times as the way to go with getting your pictures off your phone and computer.

    1. I use groove book and love that it is right from your phone! The quality is ok, better if the pics are outside. I have been using groove book for about a year, and am very happy with the company.

    2. I was going to suggest groovebook as well! I think that would be the best option if you have enough photos for a once a month print session.

  4. I download periodically to Walgreens (used to do Shutterfly until they stopped sending me coupons) and wait for their email for 100 free prints. Then go through and order prints. I also downloaded the Walgreens app. So easy… select and print pictures from your phone and pick up in store.

  5. I second the Shutterfly recommendations. I always do an annual review book. They have multiple other photo gifts as options. One year for Christmas I did a book for each of my nieces and nephews from their births to the present. I also did one for each of their parents starting with their childhoods, dating etc . They were a HUGE hit. It is a lot less pressure for busy people than the blog and if you work as you go it is pretty much ready to print shortly after the New Year. They always have 50% off deals. There are lots of other photobook companies, but I do like Shutterfly and have had a few outstanding experiences when things went wrong. I got an entire order free and 3 day turn around when there was an error with canvases last year at Christmas. It was $300 order. Anyway, just my tow cents.

I love reading about your family, the hope that is found in Lucy's survival and miracle and seeing all your pictures.

    God bless your sweet family.

    1. Also wanted to add you can download photos from lots of other sites into Shuttefly like Facebook or Instagram. That is how I get some of the great pics from my phone.

  6. Ugh! I feel your pain! Every time I think of how many different places I have photos in, and how none of them are in hard copy, I just feel overwhelmed and do nothing! I too print my blog each year, so at least I have that!

  7. I know the feeling! I've opted for uploading everything into Shutterly and then making a Year in Review album every January - not as fun as the family albums of old, but at least there is an annual record of our family adventures.

  8. I use Walgreens. They are 29 cents each and in West Memphis, they are usually ready in just a few minutes. Walmart has an app too.

  9. Try free prints by photo affections app, you get 85 free 4x6 pictures a month, it is photos from your phone only but it is pretty cool.

  10. I do photo books for holidays, vacations and each child's year at school. My kids love looking back at the pics.

  11. I didn't read the comments, but I upload my pics to Shutterfly and they have some great photo book templates. Where do you get your blog printed? I need to do that!

  12. I print our pictures about twice a year at Costco when they have their deals. In Canada they have 10 cents a photo deals. My kids LOVE looking through photo albums and no one sees our pictures if they stay on the computer.
