Eat at Chili's for Lucy

This child is a miracle.

My heart overflowed with joy as I watched Lucy receive her Bible at church today.  It wasn't but a few months ago that I was planning her funeral.  Today, she stood with 14 other children and accepted the Bible from which she will learn to read, understand and memorize scripture.  What a beautiful day.

Thank you God for your healing grace.  And thank you all for your prayers.  Thank you also to everyone who donates money to St. Jude.  Without you Lucy would not have had a chance at life.

Tomorrow, September 24th, is a big day for St. Jude.  Tomorrow is the day when Chili's restaurant will donate 100% of its net profits to the hospital where my daughter got a second chance at life.  In 2006, Chili's  pledged to raise $50 million dollars in 10 years.  With the money that Chili's has donated to St. Jude thus far (over $41 million), St. Jude was able to build and equip the building where Lucy received her radiation treatments and her stem cell transplant.  We spent 4 long, hard months housed in the Chili's Care Center.  It's an amazing facility and became a comfortable home away from home for our family.

If you live close to a Chili's, please eat there tomorrow.  Lunch, dinner...both!  Dine in or carry out.  Either one.  Just please do your part to help support St. Jude.  I borrowed this image from the Chili's site.  This is just a tiny sample of every day expenses for a child at St. Jude.  A child like Lucy.

Every Donation Counts

Every Donation Counts

Every dollar donated to St. Jude makes a difference. See how your contribution can help a child in need.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.  Chili's is doing its part.  Are you?

  1. Lucy is a miracle, she looks wonderful. Love her dress and hat, beautiful. I am working a split tomorrow, will head over to Chili's in Raynham, Massachusetts for lunch. I hope they are offering this. Glad to see Lucy looking so well. What a journey she will have to tell her children someday and I have no doubt that she will !

  3. Blessed be the name of the Lord.

Virtually experiencing a modern day miracle was the highlight of my summer. Thank you once again for sharing your miracle with us. She will be prayed for for as long as I live(for she will surly outlive me!)

May God use her all the days of her life as mightly as he has her first 6 years.

  4. I would have preferred you saying "Will you?" instead of Are You? because the latter implies that someone has to donate. I have limited money, donated to St. Jude this summer, and donate the rest of my money to abused animals.

  5. Is this corporate and franchise stores? Many Chili's are franchise stores owned and operated by independent owners.

  13. Lucy looks so beautiful. I am so happy to see in each picture her looking more healthy. I am praying that she will continue feel better and get stronger with each passing day. I wish we didn't live so far away from a Chili's. I am so happy to know that Chili's donates to St. Judes and has been able to donate that much money. Most of all I am glad that Lucy (and your family ) were close enough to it to be able to use it when needed and got such great care.(of course I wish no one ever had to be there but if needed it is nice to have such a place.)

  17. Thanks for reminding us of Chili's St. Jude Day. My mom used to work at St. Jude in radiology before we moved to Nashville. She helped design Chili's Care Center--where her old department is now housed. :)

  19. I don't know if it's just my computer, but I can no longer see anything of your posts! All I ever see is the first picture and then no more of the post. Just thought I'd post in case I wasn't the only one with this issue

  20. We had Chili's Sunday night and all three of my kids colored Chili Peppers and but we <3 You Lucy in them. They all know all about Lucy as they follow your blog with me. We donated just $15 that night, $5 for each pepper. But we're going back tomorrow just because 100% of profits will help St. Jude.
Lucy is a miracle. God has BIG plans for her!
    Thanks for sharing!

  26. These photos make me so happy and warm my heart because I DID witness a miracle through prayer and God's grace. I have donated to St. Jude's for years; ever since my son was in Jr. High School and a friend of his received treatment there. My son made a visit to the hospital to see him and was SO impressed by the facility that we immediately began making donations. Much love to you, Lucy and the entire family! May God continue to bless you richly.

  28. Thanks so much for letting us know about Chili's... We had dinner there last night - Saved ME (the non-cook in the family) from having to cook dinner! Yay! And my younger daughter colored a Chili for Lucy. (Of course, you'll have to venture to Northern VA to see it!)
    HUGS and prayers continue
