Important Information

Hilarious family picture from Jack's birthday.  Jack was still mad about the Thomas the Train cake!

Here is some important information that I wanted to share with you all (last year as I wrote about the Pumpkin Run I was sitting at the Target House.  What a difference a year makes!):

  • This Friday, September 14th, is the deadline to register to be a part of Team Lucy in the LeBonheur Pumpkin Run if you want to order a t-shirt.  You can still register for the Pumpkin Run up until the day of the race and you can continue to join Team Lucy.  However, Friday is the cut off for all Team Lucy t-shirt orders.  Once you register at www.pumpkinrun.org I will send you an email asking for your size.  I am really sorry that I will not be able to mail out shirts to spirit runners this year.

  • If you can't make it to this year's race and would like to donate, I would love for you to contribute to my fundraising goal. My page site is here. I would personally like to raise $1500 by the day of the race.  I am very behind in my efforts and would appreciate any help.  Remember, this little girl (and her family) sure is thankful for LeBonheur...

  • If you live in the Memphis area and don't have plans this Saturday night I would like to invite you to a Laughs for LeBonheur.  Its a fundraiser hosted by the Thaddeus Young Foundation.  You can read more about it and purchase tickets here.  I have been asked to speak and I am really excited.  I am honored to be able to tell Lucy's story while helping to highlight what an asset LeBonheur is to the Mid-South community.  Here is the press release for the event:
"Thaddeus Young of the NBA Philadelphia 76ers is set to host his first comedy event in Memphis, TN on September 15, 2012 from 6:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m., with proceeds benefiting his Young for Youth Foundation (501(c)(3)) and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.  The event will feature three celebrity comedians, kicking off with Jermaine “Funnymaine” Johnson, Karen Mills, and final act "Jammin" Jay Lamont.

Each ticket includes:
  • One (1) free diagnostic test from Gossett Motor Cars in Memphis, TN.
  • Drink specials at the official after party at Club Shadows.
  • Exclusive Silent Auction and Raffle Items.

Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital originated in 1923 in Memphis, TN, where a group of women started a sewing Club to make clothes for orphan children.  It has since grown tremendously and also focuses on children’s health, with reputation as the nation’s largest surgical brain tumor program and top ten busiest emergency departments in the United States."

Sorry for the information overload tonight, but there were so many things I wanted to share with you.  Lots of exciting things are happening as we seek out God's plan for our life and how we can use our journey through cancer to reach other families.

  1. Good luck with your fundraising, Kate! Yesterday, I was able to share Lucy's story (and amazing progress!) with colleagues who do community investment and PGA pro golfer Ben Crane (a St. Jude supporter). Still can't do it without choking up. Thank you for sharing your family so we can pass it along and inspire.

  2. Oh how I wish I could be part of that race! And I also wished I lived closer so I could come out Saturday night to hear you speak about Lucy. Well, since I live too far away and cannot attend either, I will be in prayer and trust you will meet your fundraising goal and speak well.

    Blessings,

Continuing to pray for sweet Lucy and I am so happy for her weight gain! This cancer journey is hard. I do not know how you did it for as long as you did other than the sweetness of our Lord. He is the One who I depend on these days. My sister has had 3 chemo treatments so far. She is doing well with them and i am praying for a miracle!
