Catch Up Post 1
A few years ago Erik's mother bought us a butterfly kit. You know? One of those grow your own butterfly from larvea things. It worked ok, but none survived long enough for us to release. We tried it again this year and I'm not sure what we did differently, but all 5 painted lady butterflies survived and we were able to release them on a beautiful, sunny spring afternoon. It almost seemed symbolic as we pray Lucy's cancer is being released from her body.

ReplyDeleteI wanted to let you know that as of tomorrow, I am signing up to do the Relay for Life in our community. I am going to help somehow, and I am going to do it in honor of Lucy (and a couple of other precious kiddos that have battled cancer this past year). I have never thought it was important to donate to medical research, cures, etc. before. But, the more I see what families must go through and how much they are benefited by the amazing hospitals, doctors, and nurses, etc. I can definitely see that it is worth it. I am trying to overcome (with God's help!) my "glass is half empty" personality and do whatever I can to help. I wonder if there is a way that this can benefit your family directly? I will find out more tomorrow from my friend who is coordinating the group from our church. So glad that Lucy is vomiting less...praying for continued healing and miracles. :)

ReplyDeleteI am a K teacher and do the butterfly kits every year. This year I have had 2 not make it. I ordered a 2nd batch too and we are awaiting for them to transform into a butterly. They are so much fun!
ReplyDeleteHow awesome!! That last picture looks exactly like you said, Lucy releasing the awful cancer from her little body!! What an incredible picture that you can actually see the butterfly being released!
ReplyDeletePraying, praying, praying that Lucy is feeling better, for her levels to improve, radiation to resume today, and for the vomiting to subside.
Hope today is a better day! GO LUCY GO!!!

ReplyDeleteI have a book called A Mother's Wish - it's a children's book but if you get a chance, read it some time. It tells that if a butterfly lands on you, you can make a wish and that wish will be carried to heaven on butterfly wings. It can't hurt to have the butterflies join in with all of our prayers, right?
