G-Tube

I don't know a lot of the details but Lucy is scheduled for surgery on Tuesday morning to have the feeding tube placed. We were first told that she had to stay in-patient for 3 days but later was told only 24 hours. So, I'm not really sure about that yet.

I will probably not post again until Tuesday. I've got some work do around here before Lucy's surgery.

Happy New Year. May God richly bless you all.

  2. Praying for a successful surgery and a short stay in the hospital for Lucy. I know this issue has given you a lot of anxiety, but from what I've read from those who know about these things, I think it will help Lucy (and you) in the long run. Please take care and know you are surrounded by prayer.

  5. Oh lady. I know this wasn't what you wanted, but you'll come to love the g-tube, I promise. I have a kiddo who's had one for six years and there is NOTHING more gratifying than pouring calories into a malnourished child without a fight! It's a pretty simple procedure, as far as surgeries go. Here's hoping the improved nutrition is just the boost Lucy needs to help her get better!

  6. I know it not what any parent wants, but I hope it will help Lucy gain some strength and improve her overall health. My son has a g-tube, it not difficult at all. You are in my thoughts and prayers--as always :)

  10. I understand not wanting your child to have a gtube but my daughter has had one for over two years and it makes things much easier. Our case is different as my daughter got one as a baby due to not being able to eat because of a lung condition. it makes getting food in easier and it makes giving oral Meds easier. If you have the ability ask for a Mickey button to be placed not a peg tube(a Mickey sits flush to the skin a peg does not). There are a lot of things out there that make feeding tubes easier. One group to look at is: feeding tube awareness on Facebook. Best of luck! Erin

  11. I feel like a lurker who has been following your blog for a very long time (not sure how I found it). I have a son with several issues, one being very developmentally delayed and Failure to Thrive. We had a g-tube put in and you may not believe it now, but it will be a blessing to you. You can focus on fun and spending time together and not what she is eating to gain an ounce. The nutrition through the tube will do wonders for her. Our thoughts are with you and your family.
