Squeaky Shoes and Surgery

Lucy went in for a check up today at St. Jude and we left with a surgery planned for tomorrow.  In a non-to-uncommon occurrence, her little body is not tolerating her Mickey button.  She seemed to tolerate the extended tube ok, but this Mickey button has been torture.  She is in a lot of pain and it is bleeding.  So...we are going in for a change tomorrow.  Please keep her in your prayers if you don't mind.

Here is a picture of what she has right now (I only wish hers looked this pretty):

Mickey Button

This picture shows a little girl with an extended g-tube, which is what Lucy will have after her procedure tomorrow.  (I grabbed this photo from Google, if you are wondering.)

So, as you can tell the Mickey button is much more desirable for obvious reason.  It will take some getting used to, but I've been assured that she will still be able to swim!

In a totally unrelated note...Jack got new shoes. Both girls wore squeaky shoes and now Jack is getting his chance.  With the first child there were totally adorable.  With Lucy, they were tolerable.  With Jack....well, we will see.  I got these at a local children's boutique here in town, The Freckled Frog, but you can get them just about anywhere children's shoes are sold.  I will admit that they are wonderful in large crowds.  Think zoo, museum, the grocery.  It's hard for them to run off when you hear their every step!

  3. I'll be praying for you xxx

  4. Thinking about Lucy and will pray for her.

  5. We got all of our squeaky shoes from China....they are adorable aren't they? So sorry to hear about Lucy. So glad swimming is still on the list of fun stuff for summer. God Bless.

  6. Our daughter has squeeky shoes that we love. She wore them to nursery on Sunday. The shoes have been banned from coming back to nursery. LOL!
Sorry that the mickey tube didn't work so great. Still glad that they have a different solution. Praying she comes through with flying colors.

  7. So sorry to hear that Lucy's button didn't work :( Our family prays for her often and we certainly will be tomorrow!

When my little ones wore squeeky shoes and we needed them to be "quiet" I just placed a small piece of tape over the little air hole in the side and they stop squeeking! I loved being able to wear them more often since they aren't cheap.

  8. Prayers for Lucy, always. And can I just say I think Jack looks like what "The Bachelor" must have looked when he was a little tyke?

  9. Prayers for a successful surgery tomorrow, and so glad to hear she can still swim.

Squeaky shoes...oh my! I was doing a huge mailing at the post office in Dec, and there was a set of twins with squeaky shoes. I have to admit after 10 mins I would have paid someone to pop the squeaker :)

  10. They also make another low profile gastrostomy -- the AMT Mini-One. My son has had his tube for 7 years, and we love the Mini-One so much more than the Mic-Key. I know the PEG is probably working fine for now, but just wanted to let you know that you have another option in the future if you wanted to talk to her doctors about it.
