Weekend Wrap Up

**Thanks again to everyone who contributed to this week's Fun Friday party.  I know there was a limited audience, which in reality is a blessing.  Next week we the topic is going to be "Favorite Summer Outing."  This could be a vacation or a local hang out.  Maybe the zoo or a museum.  You never know who you might meet or what fun ideas you will gleam during the blog party!

Our weekend was pretty low key.  We are still taking things pretty easy around here while Lucy continues to heal.  I had a kick start to my weekend on Thursday morning.  I had coffee with three of my best friends and it was wonderful!  Erik's parents were still here so they stayed with Lucy and Jack and I spent a stress free hour and a half just hanging out with these awesome girls!

Friday morning while Ella and at school, Erik's parents and I took Lucy and Jack to my favorite local garden center.  I've decided that if I need a place to let Jack burn up energy, this is it!  He pulled a heavy wagon around, stopping only long enough to pick up random pots of flowers.  It was hilarious.

After Erik's parents went home on Saturday morning we went over to my grandparents for fish.  My grandfather is an avid fisherman.  Luckily for us, he is a master fish fryer as well!  Oh, and he makes the BEST hush puppies.  Having Paw Paw's fish is such a treat for Ella.  She gets so excited every time.  With him being to sick, we don't pass up any opportunity to spend time with him and my grandmother.  The kids had a wonderful time riding the golf cart, 4 wheeler and tractor (a special treat for Jack.)

When we got home Jack went down for a nap and my friend Amanda came over to practice making a cake. Ella and her bff Gracen want a tie dye cake for their birthday this year and we are determined to make it ourselves.  The cake part went great (although it was a lot of work), but I am going to tell you I stink at decorating!!!  I won't even try to pretend.  This is what the finished project should look like.  The inside was dead on, but I didn't even attempt the frosting part.  This may be a job for my friend Christi.

Our cakes turned out perfectly

My sad little icing job.

I think I can ice a cupcake a little prettier.....

I didn't get a picture of the cake after we cut it but it looked awesome....on the inside.

After a long restful afternoon for all three kiddos we went to a cook out at our friends, Ricky and Crystal's house.  They are awesome people and all the children played so well together.  They have a chicken coop, so Jack was entertained all night!

Today has been another rest day.  I woke up in the middle of the night needing to use my inhaler, Jack is developing another wheezing cough and both girls are still nursing a croupy cough. It was no church for us, so we spent the morning just hanging out as a family.  It was rather enjoyable.  Well, its back to the grind tomorrow for us all.  Here's praying for a "normal" week at the Krull house!

  2. Kate- I love reading your updates. You are so funny and down to earth. I laugh along a lot about your mishaps and adventures. I love that you always keep a positive spirit even though your family has clearly been through so much. Always praying for your family to have a "normal" weekend (whatever that is haha)

  4. If there is any one that needs a few hours to herself it is you. The cake looks like it is going to be pretty cool, I can't wait to see the end result. I loved seeing the smile on Lucy's face in the above picture. I hope you all get over your cough. Quiet weekends are sometimes the best kind to have. Prayers to your grandfather on his health, sounds like he is an awesome person.

  9. Hi Kate, I read this quote today and it made me think of Lucy. I thought I would share. She is one strong little girl in Christ. “The strongest Oak in the forest is not the one that is protected from the storm and hidden from the sun. It’s the one that stands in the open where it is compelled to struggle for it's existence against the winds and the rain and the scorching sun.” - Napoleon Hill Have a awesome week! God Bless
