Oh! What a Beautiful Morning

Once again my love for Broadway show tunes rears its ugly head again.  This time I can't help it.  Today has been a wonderful, wonderful day and I just want to shout from the rooftops.  I sing the praises of a blood transfusion.  It changed Lucy like night and day.  She woke up with color in her face, talking and asking for something to drink.  She then proceeded to play the Wii, walk to the bathroom (with little assistance) and eat a bowl of watermelon.  After that she asked to go to school.  I was really nervous about this, but her doctors assured me it would be ok to take her.  We only stayed for about an hour but oh what joy I experienced seeing my baby back in her normal setting.  I cried tears of joy and then tears of sadness.  It was a reminder that she has missed out on such a fun part of a 5-year old's life and that the world has not stopped spinning in order to wait for her to get well.  The children were wonderful to her and just waited at her beck and call.  She was like a little rock star!

The school is also decorated in honor of Lucy right now.  The Tipton Christian Academy staff and teachers are so wonderful to us and have always taken such great care of our family.  They even presented us with a iPad 2 today.  I was blown away and so excited.  Lucy is playing it with her Daddy right now.

After school Lucy slept for over 2 hours and then rode her bike a little while.  She even went to watch Ella's softball game and talked everyone's ears off.  So I am exhausted right now.  Being at home today was equally as challenging as being away.  3 kids, one with a set of special needs and me only having 2 hands can leave a mommy feeling a little inadequate.  I think I will go to sleep on the good note of Lucy's wonderful day.  I am so grateful to God for restoring her spirit, if even for a day.

  4. I have been following your blog for a while now but never commented. Honestly I just didn't want you to think you have to take the time to read it. But I wanted to say that I am glad to hear that the tranfusion worked so well. I had one when I was pregnant and had pnuemonia. My iron was less than half of normal, and let me tell you, I was a whole new person afterward! So glad to hear the same is true for Lucy. I'm thinking of ya'll.

  9. What wonderful pictures of Lucy having fun with her classmates. So glad prayers were answered, and Lucy was able to regain some strength, and have a fun filled day. May God continue to grace Lucy with many more good days, so we can keep seeing that beautiful smile of hers. I cried tears of joy in reading this post. Lucy looked so pale in the last post, it broke my heart. It's amazing how quickly she responded to the blood transfusion, thank the dear Lord! Praying you all will be able to have many more pleasant days together during her break.

    Sending Hugs!

  23. As tears of joy stream down my cheeks, I am reminded of the Bible verse... Be still and know that I am God - Psalms 46:10. Wow... He is so visible within her school... I hope this added a little wind to your sails and brought you a little comfort as you take on this new day. :) Will be praying for Lucy and your sweet family. May you continue to cling to your faith... Go Lucy, Go!

  27. This was the scripture of the day today:
"Why is light given to man whose way is hidden, And whom God has hedged in? "For my groaning comes at the sight of my food, and my cries pour out like water. "For what I fear comes upon me, And what I dread befalls me. "I am not at ease, nor am I quiet, And I am not at rest, but turmoil comes." Job 3:23-26

Job had been careful not to worship material possessions but to worship God alone. Here he was overwhelmed by calamities that mocked his caution, and he complained about trials that came despite his right living. All the principles by which he had lived were crumbling, and Job began to lose his perspective. Trials and grief, whether temporary or enduring, do not destroy the real purpose of life. Life is not given merely for happiness and personal fulfillment, but for us to serve and honor God. The worth and meaning of life are not based on what we feel, but on the one reality no one can take away-God's love for us. Don't assume that because God truly loves you, he will always prevent suffering. The opposite may be true. God's love cannot be measured or limited by how great or how little we may suffer. Romans 3:38-39 teaches us that nothing can separate us from God's love.

  29. I am so happy Lucy had such a great day! I always chuckle a little at your pictures because I have a 5 year old named Maya and you and I must have the same taste in clothes, because we have almost ALL of the exact same clothes for the girls! I love it!
