This is what happens when your daughter learns to put her thoughts onto paper. You can also find her "thoughts" on the foggy bathroom mirror, my dirty van and just about anywhere she finds an outlet. This is our new dilema. My sweet, sweet Ella really wants a puppy. First of all, we have allergies. Secondly, now is just NOT the right time to get a puppy. We are going to put her off as long as we can. This should be interesting.

  1. Portuguese water dogs are hypoallergenic, i can't vouch for dog farts however i know those are lethal regardless of the dog. A dog is also great for pet therapy! It does wonders for the soul

  2. when the time is right, a bjorn frise (not sure on spelling) is a small dog for allergie prone families. My in-laws had one for many years. But, I know no isn't the time.

  3. maybe she could (in your free time??? hmm...) go to a shelter and walk a dog and play with it... that might satisfy her?

  4. Awe....too cute!!! Goldfish? Hermit Crab? Something VERY low maintenance but all hers? My sister-in-law just went through this with her her oldest and they also all have very bad allergies so 2 of the kids got hermit crabs and the other one got fish. They were over the moon!

  6. Please consider contacting a dog rescue group- let me tell you why- each breed has it's own- and I believe the dog the poster above was thinking of is a Bichon Frise. You can find a hypoallergenic dog that doesn't shed, and if you go through rescue, you can find a dog that is already housebroken and trained. This may be a wonderful solution as pets are wonderful therapy. I can certainly understand your need to not add that stress right now, but it may actually be the stress reliever you need for your children. And by potentially bringing in an dog that is already housebroken, YOUR stress level would be less. We brought our rescue in while my MIL was going through chemo for lymphoma and it was a wonderful bright spot for her in an otherwise very horrible time. Our dog brought her so much joy!

  7. Miniature schnauzers don't shed and neither do Shih tzu's. They are both good with kids. The schnauzers are the smartest..I raise both and love both breeds..
