Giving Thanks

Giving thanks with a grateful heart.  That's what the Krull family is about these days.  Thanksgiving eve, we humbly served a full dinner to the patients and staff of the 7th floor at LeBonheur Hospital.  The place where we spent an agonizing month fighting for our daughter's life.  Turkey, dressing, gravy, potatoes, corn, green beans, rolls and desserts galore!  Thanks to the yummy food from Wells Kitchen the meal was a huge success.  It was a true honor to provide a small bit of "family" to these people who are fighting their own battles.  I only wish I could do more.

A very special thanks to the people who went along to serve, donated money, bought supplies and baked desserts.  I am so very thankful that others understand my passion for LeBonheur and can appreciate what this hospital means to our lives.  I don't know how many people received a blessing from this one act of kindness, but if only one person did then it was worth it.  I know I blessed immeasurably.  Ella and Lucy even went along!

We are planning on doing this again at Christmas.  If you are interested in contributing, let me know.  It is my goal to make this annual tradition.

The group that served dinner.  Thanks a million guys!!

Cookies for the nurses, courtesy of LeBonheur nurse and friend, JR Coulston.  They are as yummy as they look, too.  The heart with the white stitching is the LeBonheur logo.

  1. I thought of you and your family the other day.

A close friend of mine has an appointment scheduled for her son at LeBonheur next week. He has epilepsy that is getting worse, and the doctors here (Nashville area) are at a loss. I told her about Lucy and your time at LeBonheur and how you spoke of the hospital so favorably.

Thinking of you and your family daily.

  3. Thank you! We spent last thanksgiving at a children's hospital in another state (Day 1 of my son's treatment for leukemia) and a generous family provided a wonderful dinner for all staff, patients and their families. We will be forever grateful, so I can assure you that your thoughtfulness and generosity was very much appreciated. We are finding small ways go pass it on. You are inspirational.

  4. Kate, Since I live on the other side of the state, I can't serve Christmas dinner but would like to make a monetary donation to help cover the cost of the meal. How can I get you the money? I'd love to meet you at the race (perhaps you can help calm my nerves! ;o) ). If not at the race, please send me your address and I'll send you some money. What a great idea!
