Some Thoughts

Mind is racing tonight.  Lots to do over the next few weeks as we prepare to head home.

Docs have stopped Lucy's lipids.  Will begin to decrease calories in her TPN next week.  She started her appetite stimulant yesterday and much to my chagrin, there has been no magic!  Oh, well.  We will remain diligent and I know she will start eating again sometime.

The LeBonheur run is this weekend.  I had so hoped that Lucy would be able to join us.  With her counts being 0 right now there is no way we can even attempt it.  The 2 week delay in treatment just made that impossible.  However, on a positive note I do think that the 2 week delay made her a lot stronger going in to treatment and she seems to be stronger now as well.

She even felt like having a play date today with her friend Justin.  I just love his Momma, Kristy, to death.  She is a wonderful person and we always have so much to talk about.  We fed the squirrels (who at times got a little too close for comfort), had a bubble gun fight and then went to Justin's apartment to play with his dinosaurs and cars!

And last but not least.....HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANNY!

Today is my Mom's birthday.  I could wax on forever about my Mom, but I will make it short and sweet:

I am so thankful that God chose to spare her life in December of 1995 when she suffered a massive pulmonary embolism in both lungs.  For two weeks I watched as she fought for her life and witnessed times when God was clearly fighting for her.  Before Lucy got sick, I prayed I would never have to feel fear like I felt those weeks again.  Unfortunately, watching my own daugther go through hell over the past 7 months has elicited that same fear that I felt so long ago.  The difference this time is that I have my mother here with me holding my hand, walking every step of the way with me.  I could not have made it these past months without her.  We have cried together, screamed together, prayed together and laughed together.  But most importantly, she has just sat with me countless hours as I held my baby girl.  Never speaking, only "being there."  She is truly my best friend.  She is everything you would dream of a mother being.  She is supportive, she is caring, she is brave and she is honest.  She is a wonderful Christian and I strive to be more like her every day.

I love you Mom and I will never be able to thank you for all you have done for me.
