Always trying to find humor in a bad situation, I had to share this...
I asked Lucy yesterday morning, as she was staring in the mirror with a bit of a deer-in-the-headlight look on her face if she wanted to wear a hat or a headband with a bow/flower. She grinned real big, rubbed her head and said "no way Jose!"
God love her!
So precious! Kids can teach us so much can't they! Praying for sweet Lucy!
ReplyDeleteLove it!!! Too cute!!!
ReplyDeleteGod love her! Out of the mouths of Babes! Wouldn't it be wonderful, if we could be as care free and simple as a child! Lucy looks in the mirror, and doesn't see anything different. She still sees the same beautiful girl she is, inside and out! Go Lucy Go! She needs only to smile and show the twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes, and the beauty engulfs her, she doesn't need to hide anything. She is precious to the core!
ReplyDeleteKate, here's hoping your day goes better, then yesterday. Take an ounce of Lucy's spirit, and you will make it through, and you might even find a smile hidden inside of you!
Always in my prayers, and hoping Lucy can start eating better soon.
Sending Hugs!
A Mom-Mom in NJ
Children are amazing little creatures, aren't they!
ReplyDeleteThat is hilarious! I don't know Lucy...but I love her and her attitude! (:
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Thats all I can say! God bless you and your family!
ReplyDeleteShe is a BEAUTIFUL girl. I send angels her way every time I read this blog. Angels and Health. She already has all the love she could get from you, momma. You're doing gerat. <3
ReplyDeleteBless that baby! She looks gorgeous - with or without hair! So if she wants to show off that new, beautiful, bald head of hers, sans hat or headband, then I say go for it!
ReplyDeletePraying for you all!
Jessica
She is beautiful now matter what! Just remember that as long as she keeps her smile and her personality....the hair is ok. I can't imagine going through what you are going through. I pray for Lucy often and read your blog often. No one knows why this is happening...and I'm sure that you ask that question the most. As a mom, I would too. The hardest part for me would be to 'act' strong for my kids. I'm sure this is a struggle for you to. May God truly hold you in His arms. I'm sure you know or have read the peom "Footprints" God is so strong and He is carrying Lucy...and her momma through all of this! Please give her an extra hug for me and yourself too!
ReplyDeleteOur daghter was diagnosed with brain cancer three years ago at the age of 22. She's had her head shaved twice for surgeries and then lost it all again after 27 radiation treatments. Here's a little clip the news station did on her http://www.youtube.com/user/joshuapaulhawthorne#p/u/1/CWhFBUkZP4c
ReplyDeleteThis next link is a blog by another mom who is in your shoes. Her little Kate was diagnosed two years ago with brain cancer at the age of 5...Just like you Lucy http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/mcraekate
You are in my thoughts and prayers!
Aren't kids wonderful? Really, you just gotta love her. What a trooper she is!

LOVE this post!!! Continuing to pray for you and your sweet family. Go Lucy Go!!! You're beautiful just the way you are. :-)
ReplyDeleteShe is a beautiful and has got such a determination to continue to get well. One of my favorite sayings in never judge a book by it's cover because you never know what you will find when you take a few minutes to get aquainted with the book! Just by what I have read of Lucy journey thus far she is more beautiful than someone with a head full of hair and the worse personalitiy! She is such a fighter and has such a great support system behind her. I am continuing to pray for you all!
ReplyDeleteHello Kate. My name is Tina McMurray. I stumbled upon your blog right after a friend's daughter received her cancer diagnosis. They are currently at St. Jude too and her chemo is set to begin Saturday. I read your blog daily. I am praying for you and the other families at St. Jude. Your children are beautiful and my heart aches for you- not only dealing with Lucy's cancer but also being torn away from your other children. If there is anything I can do or some way I can support you, I'd love to. We live in upper East TN and are planning on coming to see Sarah and Kellan this summer. We are also planning on running the St. Jude Half Marathon in December (my first). God Bless you!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful for her to put that bit of joy in your heart. I know that part was hard for you to go through. Every Moment ... Praise God.
ReplyDeleteHAIR IS HIGHLY OVER RATED!
ReplyDeleteENJOYED HER COMMENT! PRECIOUS!
Precious!!! I've never met Lucy, but I love her! Praying for you all daily.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Maybe she'll want to wear the accessories when she has her hair back someday. It's going to be too hot for hats in Memphis soon, anyway. :) Go Lucy, go!
ReplyDeleteShe is soo beautiful Kate!! That conversation will be something to remember on the tough days!!
ReplyDeletePraying for Lucy and your family...
and over the drs and nurses as they deal with that awful disease.
With all of the people reading your posts daily, please let us know if theres ANYTHING any of us can do...praying is something thats always going on =)
From her mouth to God's ears...I am always amazed at the perspective I gain when I take a second to look at life through my children's eyes. They don't have the fear we do, the anger or the worry...it is refreshing! Prayers!
