Taken just minutes after she got sick for the second time today and just minutes before getting her "sleepy medicine." Something she looks forward to everyday and asks for several times before RT. They let her go to sleep in my arms each day. After she goes to sleep I say a prayer over her little body asking for God's mercy and protection.
what a great picture. she's beautiful just like her mommy!
ReplyDeleteSo adorable, and such a special time for you, I'm sure. She is beautifully "priceless" on the inside & out :)
ReplyDeletePraying for Lucy and your entire family! Lucy looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteDon't panic. I'm with you. There's no need to fear for I'm your God. I'll give you strength. I'll help you. I'll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you. Isaiah 41:10
God is good!
Hi Kate,
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog through the grapevines of "mom blogs"- I'm not a mom myself (yet) but a Kindergarten teacher who absolutely loves kids, especially the little ones. I've been reading about Lucy and am touched by her courage and her strong heart- kids are amazing, aren't they? I will be reading and praying for you all and beautiful Lucy.

Kate,
ReplyDeleteI have been keeping up with Lucy. I do not know you or your family but this breaks my heart seeing her suffer but when you put smiling pictures of her on here it shows that yall are making the best of what you all have been dealt. I loved her comment to you when you asked her about the hat. I wish you and your husband to keep your faith and hold your heads up like you have been and I wish for Lucy a speedy recovery and healing. I pray everyday for you all.
Best Wishes
Blair

ReplyDeleteYour post heading says it all - priceless. My heart hurts, literally aches, for you, Lucy and your family - complete strangers to me. Thank you for sharing with us. Hearing and seeing what you are going through helps me put put aside so many petty things in my family's life - it gives me perspective. Lucy is so very special - praying for Lucy every.single.day.

So precious, and through it all still smiling. Praying for your sweet Lucy every day! (And your family's strength)
ReplyDeleteI have been so busy with my own sick child and college that I hadn't had time to read your blog lately. I was looking through it this morning and some of it makes me cry, some of it makes me smile and there are parts that make me laugh so hard I cry. You are going to make it girl! God is with us all and you and me especially:) We are special! You and I know what the secret to life is. It's to spend every single moment loving our babies and everyone else like there will never be another moment because we never know what life will bring. Most people will not learn that until it is too late. We know EARLY:) Lucy looks awesome since I last looked at her pictures. I see that she is smiling so much more lately. That is so awesome! Anyway if you ever need extra support my email is tmcannon1@hotmail.com. I come to St. Jude once a month for my son, Levi, so he can get his treatments. I hope you did not take me laughing the wrong way. I mean it in the most sincere way. You just have a way of writing that I love:) Still praying for ya'll. God Bless!
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful little girl that smile is precious patti in canada
ReplyDeleteLucy is beautiful....and such a trooper. I knew a lady wo put temporary tattoes on her head when she lost her hair. She said she had fun with doing that.
ReplyDeleteLucy ......you rock little girlfriend!! You are the most beautifully bald little girl in the world!! Still praying....still believing....still trusting.
ReplyDeleteThat is an absolutely precious picture and an even better story. You are an amazing woman, Kate. And that little Lucy...she never ceases to amaze me! What a blessing she is to so many! (And...I totally loved the "No way Jose" comment!)
ReplyDeleteShe's so sweet.
ReplyDeleteKate,
ReplyDeleteI have never left a comment on a blog before, but I wanted to let you know how much your journey touches me. I cannot fathom what you are going through, and it kills me to know what Lucy is going through. I have 4 wonderful kids, ages 9, 8, 3 and 4 months and I have wondered what I would do if one of my kids were in Lucy's shoes. I am sure I would do exactly what you are doing, but don't think I could do it with as much grace and faith. You are an extraordinary person and Lucy is so blessed to have you as a mom (which I am sure she knows :)) I too wonder why the Lord makes innocent children go through such pain and agony. I am no where near where you are on my spiritual journey, but I hope to be one day. Your posts inspire me and put my everyday problems in perspective. Please know that you, Lucy and all of the people in your life affected by Lucy's illness are in my thoughts and prayers.
Shannon
What an adorable picture!
ReplyDeleteContinuing to pray for health!
<><
Still praying for you and your family. Lucy has such a beautiful smile. Go Lucy Go!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture! Lucy continues to be in my prayers...same for all of y'all.
ReplyDeleteLucy is beautiful and she looks alot like her mommy I think.
ReplyDeleteI think Miss Lucy Goose looks great with no hair. it isn't your cell phone at all....I don't think any camera could do that sweet face any justice. The fact that she is sporting a naked head shows just how strong she is, and the fact that she doesn't want to cover it makes her even more so!!
ReplyDeleteThe one positive thing about all this other than the fact that she has a great support system, is that she will know about life and b/c she is living a life she shouldn't, she will never ever take it for granted like most of us have and do. She will be grateful to smell those roses that most of us walk by everyday and don't even notice them, she will be grateful for rain, snow, ice etc etc that most of us whine and complain about.
But you are right, she should be at school, playing with friends, laughing, running, jumping, learning to jump rope and getting into trouble. No child should ever have to deal with this dreadful disease, kids are innocent and it sucks that can be taken away so quickly. Kids at this age think they are invincible, and so they should, they shouldn't have to know about sickness, war or anything else evil.
This is only a bump in your road, beyond that bump in the road, is life, happiness, giggles, butterflies, a future. You will get there, gonna take time, and your'e gonna struggle but I firmly believe that between Lucy's support system and her strength and St Jude, she and her entire family and everyone else who loves her will get over the bump, only to have it in the very distant past.
you're an amazing mom! please dont forget that! your family is amazingly beautiful and strong. Hang on to God's word. He will provide you with everything you need. Thank you for being such an inspiration for me. you've made my faith stronger and me as a person. Praying daily for you all. Thank you for sharing this.
