RT

4 weeks down. 2 to go. May God continue to protect Lucy and praying the radiation does its job.

Lucy is having a fit with vomiting. At least 15 times in the last 48 hours. We are trying some different approaches to stop it. I'd like to ask that you pray she would get some relief. She is already tired from RT and the vomiting only makes it worse.

God is good and He hears our prayers. Despite the side effects I am so grateful for treatments that have been proven to work. I am heavily burdened tonight for new friends at St. Jude whose children have incurable diseases. God continues to prove that HE is our only hope. As one mother reminded me yesterday, He is all we have and He is all we need.

  1. Hi Katie,

I'm a random follower but a faithful pray-er for your darling little girl and your family. I teach Kindergarten so I have a huge place in my heart for little ones. It's amazing how resilient kids are- what a brave daughter you have! Please know you have people praying for you who you don't even know!!

God bless and I pray Lucy will start to find relief-

  2. I am sitting here with the sirens going off and reading your updates and feeling humbled by your faith and your honesty...please don't feel like you have to hold back on your thoughts and fears. We are here for you...we lift you up in prayer and you lift us up with yours and with your story. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Phil 4:13

  3. I'm so sorry about the vomiting. Even though I'm sure you do, I wanted to remind you to thank God for Lucy's healing... Before you ever see it. After all, "Faith without works is dead." and "works" may mean, thanking God when you get a bad report or while she's vomiting but never forget what Gods promises are. It's the hardest thing to do, ever. Remember the mother in the Bible whose son had passed but yet she answered the man of God with, "It is well". The power if life and death lies within our tongues. I know an old lady who lies so much that after a while she starts believing her own lies. There's so much power in what comes out our mouths. What I'm trying to say is even if we know our faith is lacking, speak it anyway. Pretty soon you will start to believe what you are saying. I believe that should count lt as "works". I originally had a sympathy story written up to share with you but I felt like I needed to delete it and say what I really didn't feel like saying... Because of my own troubles. I am glad I did. I needed a good remixer myself ;).
    Lucy's vomiting will cease.

  6. Dear Kate, Lucy, and family,

May God be with you! I do not know you, but have been following Lucy's fight and I am praying that she stays strong to endure the treatment and beat the horrible disease. From my family's experience with chemo and RT (husband, not a child, but still, very aggresive treatment), we have found the antiemetics to work if administered before vomitining beggins. Also, if Lucy is allowed to eat fresh vegetables and nuts, raw almonds and fresh squeezed red beet juice (separately, of course). You can mix the red beet juice with apple or carrot juice to improve the flavor and have it sit for a couple of hours before serving. It did miracles to all who were having it during my husband's treatment. There is something about it that protects the lining of the stomach and intestines. Please ask the doctor's if Lucy is allowed to have it, even in small amounts. I hope it works and I am praying for your whole family.

  7. Hi Kate! I'm not sure what's going on, I just stumbled on your blog, but you can sure bet you are all in my thoughts and I hope for only the best with your family! Despite all you are going through it is apparent in the smiles in your pictures just how happy everyone is to be together. I hope for the best!

  8. Praying she gets some relief soon...that's never fun...especially when she's already feeling worn down. God will give her (and you) the strength to get through.

  12. I am continuiing to pray for your little girl.
As for the vomiting, my SIL's mother had breast cancer and swore that Preggy Pop Drops worked better than any anti-emetic that her dr prescribed. I know it sounds funny but it might be worth a shot. (I would suggest asking her dr first though)
