That, my friends, is a SMILE. Thank you Lord for a sweet blessing today. Please continue to pray that God would lift the veil of depression and this dark cloud away from my sweet girl. I'm so ready to see this smile on a regular basis.
I even caught her smiling (watching Sesame Street, if you are wondering) while the nurse was administering her meds....
How beautiful! How wonderful! GOD IS GOOD!
ReplyDeletePraise the Lord for that beautiful smile!! :)
ReplyDeleteLots of people are praying for you today sweet Lucy!!

Kate,
ReplyDeleteI met you a few years ago at a b-day for Grace and Lilly Sullivan and I heard about Lucy through a prayer request going around Christ Methodist. You're faith is amazing and you are wonderful example of a Christian mother for so many right now. I pray for Lucy, you and your family every day. Go Lucy go!
Melissa
What a beautiful smile she has! Glad to see it return.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing that smile!
ReplyDeleteI have been reading your blog for a week or so now. I am SO glad that she is smiling again. I am praying for Lucy and you all as often as I think of you (which is very often) and will continue to do so.
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine the feelings and emotional roller coaster you are on right now. I am the mother of three daughters (who appear to be very close to your kids ages) and thinking of any Mommy watching their sweet child suffer just makes my stomach ache.
We will continue praying! Go Lucy Go!

On Children
ReplyDeleteKahlil Gibran
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.
So glad to see that smile! Praying for Lucy everyday!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet smile!

I haven't stopped thinking and praying for Lucy since I saw your blog. (I must also add that I'm a middle child, so Lucy and I already have an immediate bond! :) )

Kate, I am Amber Smith's cousin, and that top picture of Lucy, is so sweet. I just wish every day could be like that for you and Erik. You guys are on our prayer list. If prayer works, she will be healed. There are thousands praying for her. God will bring you peace. He answers prayers, sometimes in very small ways, we just have to look for them. That smile is one of them. Bless you and your family.

LOVING THAT PRECIOUS SMILE!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd sending PRAYERS for Lucy - and all of y'all - from Midlothian, Virginia!
What a beautiful smile!
ReplyDeleteI heard of your situation from a friend of mine on her FB.
Lucy and your entire family have been on my mind and in my prayers.
Monday night on my way to take my daughter to tumbling we were listening to K-Love. There to our ears delight is a call from a woman wishing Lucy a Happy Birthday. They all sang on the radio to Lucy and it was so moving!!! To think of all the people who heard Lucy's name and situation and that would be praying for her!!!
You have prayers coming from Northern Kentucky. Keep fighting Lucy. Praying for you and your family daily!
In His Grip,
Sarah
Dear Kate and family,
ReplyDeleteThis morning I came across your blog "through the blogvine" and I was so deeply touched. I thought of little Lucy throughout the day, I am praying for many more smiles and graces from god :)
With love from Buffalo, NY
Hi Kate,
ReplyDeleteI kept seeing Facebook posts from Julie B. about a sweet girl named Lucy. I checked out your blog tonight, and it took me a few minutes to realize that I remembered you from college! In fact, my mom and your dad went to UTM together, and my mom is soroity sisters with Pam Merritt (not sure if you know her, but she is from Covington. I know Covington is like Union City - where I'm from- so everyone knows everyone!).
Your blog has been such an inspiration. You have a beautiful family, and you are right...it totally sucks that Lucy has to endure this. You are in great hands with Dr. Boop and his team, as well as all of the nurses at Le Bonheur. I work for Le Bonheur (but I work in kids' homes, so I'm rarely at the hosp.), and am constantly reminded of all of the amazing, talented, brilliant people there. I recognized several of Lucy's therapists in your pictures, and rest assured, they are awesome at what they do. That Rehab dept is one amazing group of folks!
My husband and I are praying for your family. For you to stay strong emotionally, and healthy physically.
Thank you for taking the time to share your journey with all of us. We, too, are along for the ride, and will do whatever we can to help.
Melissa (Cunningham) Tully
You are all such an inspiration!!!It is wonderful to see her beautiful smile and I can't wait to see many more! Praying for you always! GO LUCY GO!!!!!
ReplyDeleteEvery morning and every night without ceasing, we are praying for Lucy and your entire family!
ReplyDeleteGO LUCY GO!
This beautiful and long awaited smile brought tears to my eyes and a smile to my face simultaneously. She made my day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful sight to see...that beautiful smile on that beautiful face!! I check your blog throughout the day and was so glad to see that Lucy was feeling better today. What a difference a day makes. I am also so pleased to see the way that people are coming together for you and Lucy. That sweet precious girl has no idea what she does for everyone that reads or hears her story. It's good to know that people still rally around each other in hard times. Kate, I hope that writing about your situation is helpful to you because the rest of us look forward to your posts daily. You're a wonderful Mother, and I know that at times you feel as if you can't do this another moment but, you already have and no Mother could do more than you are right now. Keep fighting as we will continue to pray.
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious blessing her smile is! We keep praying for your family throughout each day!
ReplyDeleteYEAH for smiles!!! Go Lucy Go!!! I am so glad to hear that she has had a good day and even was able to get out of her room a couple of times!! Praise God for that!!! I pray that this is the begining of many days ahead like that! You all are in my thoughts and prayers many times throughout the day!
ReplyDeleteGo Lucy Go! That SMILE is the prettiest "bloom" I've seen this season! I await many more!!!! Praying for your continued strength as you're cured!
ReplyDeleteKate you are an amazing young mother leaning on God for his comfort and promises! I can tell you BELIEVE and know that your little Lucy will be healed. Glad I stumbled on your blog. Will pray for you, Lucy, and your family. Lucy is wrapped up under Gods wing of protection. Imagine this picture as she continues this journey. Little Lucy cuddled up tightly to God with his arm lovingly holding her and your family. June (Mimi's Makins)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful smile! I know it has to be hard to see her in a dark cloud, we will continue to pray for you all!
ReplyDeleteI came across your blog & learning about your family's story-I am already saying prayers as I read.....
ReplyDeleteLove it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
