Bad Morning

"Stop this train...I want to get off."  This verse from a old song comes to mind this morning.  But instead of a train, it seems to be the world's largest, tallest and longest rollercoaster.

Lucy had a very restless night.  She tossed and turned, moaned throughout her sleep and had horrible pains in her right leg.  Around 6:30 this morning she started vomiting.  Then she started screaming about pain in her head.  A Dr. from neuro sent us down for an immediate head CT.  Erik and I were scared to death, but I knew in my heart that she would be ok.  They read the scan immediately and everything looked great.  As a matter of fact her hydrocephalus had completely disappeared that was present before her surgery.  I hate we had to go through that time of torment this morning but it was so great to hear the good news about the ventricles in her brain.

She road down in a wagon and actually got comfortable enough to rest for a minute.

But now she is happy.  Resting peacefully on her Daddy's chest.  It's how its supposed to be.  Erik said he might have to have back surgery after it was over, but he would hold her there for a week if it would make her better.

  5. Saw about your beautiful girl from a friend on facebook- prayers that she continues to improve and all through her journey. There is a song written for kids like her that was inspired by st. jude's hospital- "I am Strong." I couldn't help but think of it as I read your story...

  6. Hi Kate,
I know you don't know us, but your story has touched our hearts in more ways than one. Your words of wisdom and your strength have really inspired us, and made us so grateful for the health of our children. While your family is spending all your time in the hospital and were blessed to be at home with our children. We are wanting to help you and your family. So by helping we are planning a Scentsy party in honor of Lucy with all the benefits coming to your family. All are invited, and we will have the event posted on Facebook with all the information. We will continue to pray for you, Lucy, Erik, Ella, and Jack. If there is anything else we can do please don't hesitate to ask.
With love from our Families to yours,

  8. Hello Kate -
Our thoughts and prayers are with you! A friend of a friend of yours emailed me about your situation. We are going through the exact same thing with our son Noah. Our blog is :

    www.jedinoah.wordpress.com

We too know that God is in control and he is giving us strength to get through this journey that our babies should not have to travel. We too called doctors all over the country (even Canada) trying to find someone that wasn't going to consider Noah research. I knew I had to find the best to not only treat him, but to protect his brain and quality of life. (I made doctors conference call with each other to brainstorm. :-) St. Jude, Johns Hopkins, Shands, Dr. Jonathan Finlay, Sloan-Kettering, etc...)

I was in a meeting yesterday with Dr.s at Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital and I thought of you. They have treated a little girl with medullo up and down her spine causing great back pain. Her disease was very advanced. The chemo treatment put her into full remission. It's a new treatment and I thought that I had to pass it along.

We have been battling since Oct. 2009; we know exactly where you are and how you feel. God will give you strength. Feel free to email me if you want any more information to call the doctors - noahlist@nthdegreefx.com

From one mother to another :-)
God Bless you and your Blessed Lucy

  9. You are constantly in our thoughts and prayers! It breaks my heart to see Lucy's poor little body in so much pain. The picture of Erik and Lucy is just beautiful. I am sure she can feel how much she is loved just laying there. Go Lucy Go! God bless you all!
